Masori: International Car Audio Shop with Indexing Problems: SEO Project by Richard Roth

The Starting Point

Masori is an established online shop for car audio and car hi-fi, specializing in subwoofers, amplifiers, and everything around sound in vehicles. The shop already had solid traffic, but technical problems lurked under the hood.

The main problem: An automatically installed translation app wasn’t working properly. Many international pages weren’t indexed at all or ranked significantly worse than they should.

The Challenge

  • Defective translation app prevented indexing of many pages
  • International versions were ignored by Google
  • Product pages didn’t rank even for their own brand names
  • High existing traffic means: Every percentage increase = thousands of clicks

My Approach

Rebuilt Translation Infrastructure

The old translation app had to go completely. I:

  • Conducted analysis of defective hreflang implementation
  • Executed manual migration to a reliable solution
  • Correctly configured language deployment technically
  • Ensured indexing of all language versions

Product Page Optimization

Many products didn’t even rank for their own name. We fixed this systematically:

  • Keyword optimization of product titles
  • Unique product descriptions instead of manufacturer texts
  • Structured data for all products
  • Internal linking between related products

Technical SEO

  • Fixed crawling problems caused by the old app
  • Eliminated duplicate content from wrong language versions
  • Correctly implemented canonical tags and hreflang
  • Optimized Core Web Vitals

The Results

For a shop with already high traffic levels, every percentage increase makes a big difference:

MetricResult
Traffic IncreaseSeveral percent
Additional ClicksThousands per month
Indexed PagesSignificantly more language versions
Product RankingsVisible for own brand names

The Leverage with Large Shops

What would be maybe 50 additional clicks for a small shop means thousands for Masori. The percentage increase acts as a multiplier on existing traffic volume.

Lessons Learned

Translation apps are a common problem with international shops. They promise easy localization, but if the technical implementation isn’t right, it hurts more than it helps.

The solution: Don’t blindly trust automation, but check the technical implementation. Hreflang, canonicals, and indexing must be clean, otherwise you lose international rankings.

And: Even with established shops with lots of traffic, there are often untapped potentials. A few percent increase can make a massive difference.
