E-Commerce GEO When the AI recommends a product, it should be yours

Buying advice increasingly happens in chat. Whoever gets named there has half won the decision, because people rarely keep searching after three suggestions.

Buying advice in chat Among the three suggestions, not below them

Working with Richard has been a pleasure and shows results fast: our organic traffic rose about 7% after roughly two weeks and the new product pages convert better with an 11% uplift.

Your contact for products in AI answers

E-commerce GEO makes sure AI systems know, understand and can recommend your products. The difference to a search engine is fundamental: Google shows a list and leaves the choice to the person. An AI makes the shortlist itself and names two or three products with reasoning.

For yours to be among them, a model has to be able to do two things: identify your product unambiguously and justify why it fits. The first is a question of clean data, the second a question of editorial depth. I work on both.

Ablauf

How your e-commerce GEO project runs

From what the AI recommends today to solid product data.

  1. 01

    Test buying questions

I put your audience's buying questions to the models and record which products and shops get named, and with what reasoning.

  2. 02

    Check the data

Then I look at whether your product data is machine readable at all: schema, attributes, availability, prices and variants.

  3. 03

    Expand product data

Missing properties get added and marked up so a model can attribute them reliably instead of guessing them from running text.

  4. 04

    Provide reasoning

Comparisons, use cases and honest boundaries give a model the arguments it needs to recommend your product.

  5. 05

    Test again

The same buying questions at fixed intervals, so it becomes visible whether your mentions change and for which questions.

Which shops e-commerce GEO is worth it for

The more a product needs explaining, the more likely someone asks the AI first.

Products that need explaining

When questions have to be resolved before a purchase, people now ask the AI rather than a comparison site. Appearing there as the fitting solution skips the entire comparison.

  • Properties explained machine readably
  • Use cases instead of ad copy
  • Clear boundaries against alternatives

Brands with their own range

Own products have no manufacturer text that already sits everywhere. That is an advantage, but only if you fill the gap with your own verifiable details.

  • Brand as an unambiguous entity
  • Product data first hand
  • No confusion with other brands

Niche & specialist retail

In niches the data available to models is often thin, because few write about it in depth. That is exactly what makes it comparatively easy to become the cited source.

  • Little competition for the source
  • Editorial depth pays off directly
  • An early lead in the niche

How I support you

Pick an area to see what it actually involves.

I collect the questions actually asked before a purchase in your category and test them across several AI systems. The result shows which products get recommended today and why.

  • Real buying questions instead of keyword lists
  • Several models compared
  • The AI's reasoning recorded too

Häufige Fragen

Frequently asked questions about e-commerce GEO

Why does an AI recommend one product and not another?

Because it understands it better and finds a reason for it. What matters are machine-readable properties, content explaining selection criteria, and mentions outside your own shop. Pure ad copy gives a model nothing to refer to.

Is product schema enough?

It is the foundation, but not sufficient on its own. Schema makes sure your product can be identified. Whether it gets recommended is decided by content explaining who it fits and who it does not.

Does e-commerce GEO replace classic shop SEO?

No. Both draw on the same technical and editorial basis. A shop with messy indexing and thin product pages will do badly in Google and with an AI alike. GEO comes on top, see E-Commerce SEO.

How do I measure whether it works?

Through repeated tests with the same buying questions. I document whether your products get named, in which position and with what reasoning. Over the months that becomes a development line, even without rankings in the classic sense.

Is it worth it with a small range?

Often precisely then. With few products that need explaining, the necessary depth is realistic to produce, whereas large catalogues first need a system for it. In niches the competition for the cited source is also small.

What about shopping features inside ChatGPT?

The providers keep building shopping features into the chat interfaces. Which form will prevail is open. What is certain is that all of them require clean, machine-readable product data. That is exactly what we create now, regardless of which interface wins in the end.
